Stainless Steel Pressure Vessels

Pressure vessels are carefully fabricated, enclosed containers designed to hold either gases or liquids at a different pressure than the surrounding air pressure. These vessels are used for a variety of applications in the industrial sphere and the private sector. Because of the inherent dangers posed by pressure vessel fabrication and operation, stringent engineering regulations are in place to ensure optimal safety and reliability.

Several industries — a few of which are listed below — rely heavily on stainless steel pressure vessels to store substances and materials which need pressurized containment due to their process needs.

  • Pharmaceutical
  • Food and beverage
  • Dairy
  • Brewery
  • Cosmetics manufacturing

Stainless Steel Pressure Vessels Capabilities and Specifications

Most industrial pressure vessels are constructed in a cylindrical or drum-like shape, with walls made of stainless steel. This material resists corrosion and is generally very easy to maintain clean when suitably polished — one of the most important criteria in the food and beverage and pharmaceutical industries.

However, pressure vessels can be made in any kind of configuration, as long as they have the capacity to maintain the required internal and/or external pressure. At Highland Equipment, we offer two types of pressure vessels — shown below — to meet clients’ varying needs.

  • pressure vessels for storage need only
  • pressure vessels equipped with mixers and agitators

Stainless steel pressure vessels can also be used for cooling and heating when equipped with a jacket and can also be used for secondary containment when processing hazardous materials.

In industrial applications, pressure vessels can be used for high-pressure or low-pressure containment, depending on specific application needs.

Highland’s Services and Capabilities

Highland Equipment can offer end-to-end project management, from equipment design and manufacturing to system integration, installation, and ongoing technical support. Our team works closely with customers to develop cost-effective solutions that can meet even the most challenging application-specific requirements, and all equipment is designed to comply with relevant codes and standards.

Our cutting-edge fabrication shop is outfitted for various metal forming operations and operates a state-of-the-art welding department. Our team of welders have years of experience meeting the most stringent criteria for weld penetration and creating smooth I.D. and O.D. welds with accurate joint fit-up.

In our finishing department, we maintain a 30’ x 30’ x 20’ glass-bead blasting booth, as well as sophisticated polishing equipment, to ensure defect-free 5A and BPA-free surfaces on pipes, cylinders, and heads.

Comprehensive quality control is practiced throughout all phases of fabrication, and our team performs thorough weld inspection to ensure joints are flawless. Plus, our professional field crews are experienced in all aspects of the assembly and erection of piping systems in accordance with ASME codes and standards.

As a fabrication shop, Highland Equipment is ASME Section VIII Division 1 certified and National Board “U” Stamp registered. We also comply with CSA B51 and U.S. Dairy 3A. As a recognized leader in sanitary fabrication, our team is proud to have completed thousands of installations across North America.
