At Highland Equipment Inc. (HEI) we specialize in providing design/build/installation and integration services of custom process systems and equipment. Over the past 50 years, we have developed a high level of competence in Clean In Place (CIP) systems and processes, as effective, reliable, and repeatable CIP processes impact all of our customers.
It is due to our focus on CIP and CIP Innovation that Highland has been honored with being selected as the first North American partner of Elody’s innovative CIP-focused technologies, which highlights our commitment to bringing cutting-edge solutions to our clients.
Why consider Elodys technologies?
- Increase CIP efficiency = increases production uptime
- Decrease Water, Energy, and Chemical Consumption
- Decrease or even eliminate BOD/COD impact on Waste Water Plants

Elodys International
Founded in 2008, Elodys International is the result of the collaboration between Barrault Recherche, Eau et Industrie, and Gilles Tastayre, a Canadian chemist who has spent his entire career in the field of Cleaning Chemistry.
Since its creation, Elodys and its teams have consistently engaged in new R&D projects to develop technologies (Green CIP, Opticlean, and BARcip) aimed at improving the industrial and environmental performance of our clients, particularly through a reduction in water and energy consumption, washing time pollution, while ensuring a quality control that is at least equivalent to or enhanced.
Highland Equipment proudly represents Elodys in Canada.
Through our partnership with Elodys, Highland Equipment can now offer efficient & sustainable technologies for CIP Systems in Canada. We can improve your process equipment’s performance through Elodys’ quality and operational efficiency focused solutions. Elodys reduces your cleaning costs and increases your equipment’s uptime while lowering you environmental impact.
Reduce cleaning costs.
Increase operational efficiency.
Reduce environmental / wastewater treatment impact.

Productivity: 20% CIP time reduction
Quality: improved control & online qualification
Efficiency: reduction of water, energy, chemicals consumptions
CapEx: increase CIP line capacities and Process Operational Efficiency
This sensor allows for the optimization of the cleaning phases of processes. Based on a principle of UV and IR spectrophotometry, it enables online measurement of the variation in pollution contained in CIP solutions, thus determining the optimal washing recipe. It also allows for better sorting of washing solutions based on their actual level of contamination, rather than presumed.
Complementary to the conductivity meter that manages concentration and phase changes, to the temperature probe that adjusts the thermal factor, and to the flow meter that allows monitoring of the mechanical factor in the washing process, Opticlean becomes the essential tool for managing the timing of washing sequences as closely as possible to actual needs. It becomes THE sensor for cleaning in place.
Cost: 90% chemicals recovery (caustic & acid), 50% water & energy conservation, 15% CIP time reduction, +30% extra WWTP capacity
Quality: improved due to auto-additivation of caustic (natural surfactant properties)
Environment: reduction of CO2 and water footprint, 30% reduction in organic pollution discharge (COD)
Sustainable chemicals: switch for natural detergent (KoH)
The GreenCIP process will purify used washing solutions and allow for their infinite reuse. This is already a technological breakthrough in itself, but even better, we have demonstrated that the detergent power of regenerated soda is far superior to that of standard “new” soda!
The principle of regeneration does not proceed through a physical action such as centrifugation or membrane filtration; it is based on a much more efficient physico-chemical treatment process involving coagulation, flocculation, and separation of organic matter. The regeneration yield of GreenCIP is guaranteed to be over 90% at the same concentration.
In fact, this process incorporates the well-known and well-controlled practice of physicochemical treatment used in wastewater treatment plants (DAF), but it would be impossible to apply with standard market reagents on soda or acid given the extreme pH constraints and high temperatures to which we are de facto subjected.
And who is leveraging this FDA and CFIA Approved technology?

Using Green CIP since 2012: a review from a dairy & beverage manufacturer
“After many years working closely with Elodys in the water & energy sectors,we decided to take on the ambitious technical challenge of regenerating chemicals using the Green CIP system. The regeneration rate meets our objectives while maintaining our plant’s quality standards.”
