Highland’s Engineering Department includes Engineers and Design Estimators who work collaboratively to develop cost-effective designs and solutions to meet specific customer requirements. You are assured that any equipment, piping, or turnkey system designed and installed by Highland Equipment will perform according to the highest codes and standards.

Highland Equipment designs and fabricates complete process systems meeting or exceeding 3A Standards. We offer our clients a range of options and services intended to help meet virtually any requirement. Whether you need specialized turn-key system design, modular implementation, fabrication, installation, service and maintenance, or project management, our team is well-equipped to handle your project and meet or exceed your expectations.

Engineering Design Considerations

During the engineering design process, determining the dimensions of your design will always be the first step. Once you’ve determined a chosen location and gathered information about the dimensions you’ll be working with, our team will help to engineer an ideal solution for your needs.

We’ll create approval drawings based on your requirements before circling back to you for review. All drawings include the proposed equipment outlines and dimensions. This information allows us to collaborate on each detail of the project thoroughly and assess any issues that may arise.

Single-product systems are often simple to design. Multi-product systems typically possess far more factors for consideration. A number of key considerations play into the planning process, including:

  • How heat transfer will take place
  • How the array of various viscosities will be handled
  • Fluctuating temperatures
  • Whether alterations need to be made to other process parameters (e.g. pH factors)
  • How those alterations will be made

Process equipment can be designed in three styles, including:

  • Clean-In-Place (CIP)
  • Semi-CIP
  • Clean-Out-Of-Place (COP)
